Every bird as beautiful as the large birds only on the smaller scale. Each bird begins with a design by a master carver.
The master carver then selects each gemstone best suited for that particular bird. All of the gemstones used in these carvings are of superior quality, and the list of gemstones is quite extensive. Included in the list are, amethyst, agate, aventurine, amazonite, bloodstone, calcite, carnelian, citrine, dolomite, fluorite, howlite, jasper, obsidian, selenite, tiger-eye, unakite, crystal quartz, tourmaline, aragonite, chrysocolla, rose quartz, sodalite, onyx, smokey quartz, rutilated quartz, topaz, iolite, azurite, jade, charoite, kunzite, kyanite, epidote, serpentine, blue quartz and green quartz.
The master carver applies his own style and tecnique, paying meticulous attention to all details. In order to create lavish bird sculptures, he must be familiar with the intricacies of each particular gemstone and how to best use their brilliant colors. The finished bird sculpture is a unique and ornate work of art.
Each bird is then perched on a sparkling gemstone geode. Most sit on amethyst, citrine or quartz crystal bases, but there are also bases of unusual minerals such as tourmaline or dolomite. Many of the minerals used come from sources considered to be the best in the world.
Although no two bird sculptures are alike, most are between 6 inches to 13 inches tall and approximately 3 inches wide. The geode bases also vary but again, most are between 4 to 7 inches tall and 6 to 4 inches wide. The average weight of these creations is approximately 3 to 6 pounds. These beautiful birds are very imposing figures.
Each of these unique bird sculptures was inspired by an artist. And just as nature never creates two stones that are alike, no two bird carvings are ever the same. Each creation was designed, carved and polished to create the perfect union between the finest craftsmen meeting nature's brilliance.
